Living with pain is never easy but finding relief is even more difficult.
Our goal at The Neurography Institute is to improve your quality of life and to help relieve pain – allowing you to regain control and achieve a pain-free life.
We offer advanced diagnostics and therapeutics to best identify and treat the source of your pain. Click here to be directed to our Services and Treatment section to learn more.
Our website is designed for you to arm yourself with education about various spine and nerve health issues that can give you the information you need to better communicate with your physician.
No website can substitute for a direct medical examination by a qualified health care professional. If you are in pain, we urge you to contact your primary care physician immediately for treatment. The Neurography Institute is a resource but is not intended to supplant real, in-person medical attention.
If you’re seeking more information about a condition you or a loved one may have been diagnosed with, or if you’re simply seeking more information about these types of conditions, The Neurography Institute is ready to help.
Our site is separated into two main article categories: Disorders and Treatments. The various Disorders cover the main areas of nerve and spine health: Nerve Disorders, Spinal Disorders, and Cranial Disorders. Treatments covers the latest, minimally invasive techniques for providing relief for these disorders. We are proud to offer non- and minimally-invasive therapeutics including MR-guided injections
and TMS- transcranial magnetic stimulation
you can follow the links here to learn more. We also have a Video section with content prepared by Dr. Filler.
And, of course, we are ready to offer more information and assistance simply by filling out our Contact form (below). All inquiries are handled by the staff of the The Neurography Institute. You may also contact NIMA during normal business hours at 310-314-6410
Thank you for your visit to The Neurography Institute. We hope our site will be able to give you the information you seek on your path to spine and nerve health.

Each year in the USA, 1.5 million people have lumbar MRI scans to find the cause of buttock and leg pain called “sciatica.” It could be Piriformis Syndrome.
Pudendal Nerve Entrapment
Pain or numbness involving the area between the legs, including the genitals and occasionally some of the inside of the thigh, often aggravated by sitting.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Among the most common types of nerve entrapment is Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) causing pain and weakness in the neck, shoulder, arm and hand.
Brachial Plexus Syndrome
The most common causes of brachial plexus injuries are motor vehicle injuries – particularly motorcycle injuries – and severe blows to the shoulder..
The spine can be affected by arthritis, degenerative wear affecting joints and disks, and other abnormalities that cause pain, numbness and weakness.
Some forms of facial and head pain — Occipital headaches, Foramen Magnum Syndrome, Trigeminal Neuralgia — respond only to surgical procedures.
Meet Dr. Aaron G. Filler, MD Ph.D. JD FRCS
Dr. Aaron Filler is a world-renowned neurosurgeon and has revolutionized the diagnoses of traumatic brain injury by inventing several new technologies.
One such technology, Diffusion Tension Imaging (DTI) (U.S. Patent – 5,560,360) can accurately detect and document all the subtle injuries that interfere with the normal functioning of the operating circuits of the brain. Dr. Filler is also the inventor of MR Neurography, which enables doctors to use an MRI scanner to examine nerves.
He has developed many new “minimal access” surgery methods that allow him to treat complex nerve problems with small outpatient surgeries using open MR technology.
Dr. Filler’s key to success remains a very traditional endeavor: listening to the patient and doing a thorough and expert neurological examination. He combines three key components in his treatment of each patient to turn insoluble pain problems into specific treatable diagnoses: compassionate personal attention, expert medical skills, and integration of the best technology in the world.
A common theme we hear our patients say is that they have seen multiple doctors and specialists, experienced failed surgeries, and have even had their very pain questioned – like the pain is in their head, not real. At The Neurography Institute, Dr. Filler demonstrates that in many of these cases the problem is the doctor and not the patient. A cure is in reach when the best available medical care is brought to bear.
Dr. Filler has an MD from the University of Chicago, a Ph.D. from Harvard University, and is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in England. His medical training included four years of medical school, eight years of neurosurgical training at one of the leading neurosurgery programs in the US, an additional one-year fellowship in neuroimaging at the University of London, another year of training in complex spinal surgery at UCLA and a fellowship in peripheral nerve surgery with Dr. David Kline in New Orleans. He is the inventor of ten major patents, has published more than twenty prominent scientific publications, and has done more than a hundred presentations at scientific and medical meetings.Click here to access his CV.
